A writer writes
Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the questions I'm asked about Ghostwriting. I hope they help you navigate your journey to starting your writing project.
How Long?
Generally a book project can take 3-4 months from start to finish. This includes the writing, editing, graphic design, printing and publishing. However, I am known as a fast writer with a record of 100,000 words for two of my own books in just 14 days. To be honest, your availability and time is more likely to be the limiting factor, but if you want a book faster, we can help.
Process?
We have a complete process of creating a book from the planning to writing, editing, design layouts and printing and publication. As ghostwriters our main focus is the writing, which is generally done through a series of interviews with you and the other stakeholders including family, friends and staff that you might need interviewed for your project. We can guide you on the other steps and provide introductions to great suppliers, but we generally do not project manage the entire process unless you really need us to.

On the topic of interviews, we like to do more shorter interviews rather than grinding away and talking for hours. Our interviews are generally 30-45 minutes long to keep you fresh and on topic.
How do you write so fast?
I've had a lot of training in writing, as well as interviewing and in addition, I'm a student of the humanities and am able to duplicate detailed concepts very fast. This comes from my unique mix of skills which include a background in science, a long business career, presenting, writing 10 of my own books and extensive studies in human behaviour and philosophy. You wont find anyone with quite the mix of skills and ability to listen.
Topics?
I've written millions of words on a wide range of business topics as well as songs, poems, speeches, and family histories. I've studied science, play music, and enjoy cooking so there aren't too many topics I can't write about, or understand when I interview you as the expert. However, there are certain topics that I do not write about for philosophical reasons. Without wishing to offend I may not take on your project for these reasons, but I am quite clear on those boundaries and on ethics and integrity.
Costs?
The cost of self-publishing a book can be significant, and hiring professionals to write your book will require a substantial budget. The writing costs will be provided to you in our quote. Beyond writing, you will need to budget for design, graphics and layouts, editing, printing and promoting the book.

For many people, it is simply the story that counts, and many family histories remain an unpublished manuscript for the eyes of the family alone. In this case, the only fee you have is the writing fee.

We follow the direction of the Australian Association of Authors in setting our fees for writing.

There are options if you don't have a significant budget, such as engaging us to simply interview you and provide transcripts to get you started on writing it yourself.
Intellectual Property?
The IP is all yours. Unless of course you are quoting other people, or referring to their work.

In some cases, information may be in the public domain, but we advise you to get legal advice if people or companies are being mentioned.

We do not provide legal advice.
Confidentiality?
You can be guaranteed of absolute confidentiality of any information you share. No-one will ever know we helped you write your book, unless you choose to tell them. Our team are well versed with confidential information having worked with leaders and large organisations for over two decades. We've never had anyone concerned about our ability to keep things confidential. However, we're also happy to sign a confidentiality agreement if you so desire.
How do I plan a book?
All books and stories are made up of shorter stories, chapters, or sections.
You'll probably already have an idea of what you want to talk about, but don't worry we'll help you organise those thoughts both at the start and during the interview process.
AI?
Artificial Intelligence is here to stay, and is receiving a lot of attention from the media and a wide range of 'experts'. Whilst it has a place, at GhostHunter we believe in humans helping other humans to tell human stories. There will not be a place for content written by AI in our team. We have used AI for research, image generation and fact finding. We use AI to generate transcripts and meeting summaries. We do not use it for writing.
Clients?
Nice try! We don't reveal the names of our clients, unless they choose to reveal themselves. But we have worked with business and community leaders all over Australia as well as the USA and Africa so far. We can work with anyone, anywhere as long as they need help and have an awesome story to tell.
